Weekly FSIS directory diff

A weekly FSIS directory diff is a before/after comparison of two successful snapshots of the official USDA FSIS MPI establishment directory. Instead of re-checking the whole list, you get only material adds, removals, and selected field updates — each tied to immutable archives and SHA256 evidence.

This page is about how and how often we compare. For definitions of change types, see FSIS plant changes. For the source itself, see USDA establishment directory.

What a weekly diff includes

Directory changes are research signals, not purchase intent. Full disclosure: limitations.

Why weekly (not daily)?

The public MPI source supports a research cadence, not tick-by-tick trading. Weekly snapshots cut noise, preserve auditable hashes, and match how many vendor teams plan territory research. If the official feed fails for a week, we fail closed — we never invent an empty directory.
