What this feed is — and isn’t
Plant Delta Feed is a weekly verified diff of the official USDA FSIS MPI establishment directory. It is research tooling, not purchase-intent data. Use this page before treating any tag or removal as a sales signal.
Directory change intelligence
- Weekly official diffs Adds, removals, and material field updates from the public FSIS MPI API — compared week to week.
- Evidence with every event Before/after values tied to archived snapshots and SHA256 hashes. Failed fetches never become empty directories.
- Optional research tags Directory-derived heuristics (size, species, activities) for vendor research — labeled as heuristics, not scores.
- Email + CSV delivery A short change list when your plan is active — not a CRM and not a scraped contact database.
Hard boundaries
- Not purchase intent A directory change never means a plant is buying packaging, equipment, sanitation, or software.
- Not a lead list No scraped emails, phone numbers, or “hot leads.” Official directory fields only.
- Not state-only plants Coverage is the federal MPI directory. State-inspected-only establishments are out of scope.
- Not financial or credit data No revenue, spend, Dun & Bradstreet enrichment, or employment signals.
- Not real-time Weekly cadence matches useful research rhythm — not continuous monitoring or tick-by-tick alerts.
- Not USDA or FSIS Independent product. We read the public API; we are not a government agency.
Verify before outreach
- Removals ≠ closures. Removals may be administrative (grant change, consolidation, correction), not a permanent plant shutdown.
- Activity strings vary. Official FSIS activity text is canonicalized for comparison; species/categories may be derived heuristically from that text.
- Vendor-fit tags are heuristics. They prioritize research — never treat them as proof of demand. Check the current official FSIS record before outreach.
- Sparse official fields. Some directory columns (for example DUNS) are often blank in the public payload. We map them; we do not invent values.
- Schema can drift. If USDA renames or reshapes fields, we fail closed on critical drift rather than emit a bad empty week.
A research input, not a pitch script
Good use: notice which FSIS-listed plants were added, removed, or updated; decide which ones deserve a deeper public-web research pass; keep claims tied to before/after evidence.
Bad use: email a plant because a tag “looks hot,” claim they are buying, or treat a removal as confirmed closure without checking the live FSIS record.
