USDA establishment directory
The USDA FSIS Meat, Poultry and Egg Product Inspection (MPI) establishment directory is the public roster of FSIS-inspected plants. It is the authoritative source for establishment IDs and many directory fields published by FSIS. Looking up one plant is easy; noticing every weekly change across thousands of rows is not.
What the directory is for
FSIS publishes the MPI list so the public can see which establishments are under federal inspection. Fields typically include identity, location, size class, and activity/species-related information — not buying intent, budgets, or contact lists. Some official columns are sparse or blank; that is a property of the source, not something we invent. See limitations.
Why snapshot + diff instead of one-off lookups
A single lookup answers “what does this plant look like today?” A weekly directory diff answers “what moved since last week?” Plant Delta Feed reads the public MPI API, stores immutable weekly snapshots with SHA256 hashes, and emits only material adds, removals, and field updates with before/after evidence.
